We are now looking for a Senior Broadcast Journalist to join our team in India.
BBC Hindi is a multiplatform offer with a 24/7 multimedia website with a focus on text, video, interactive for both desktop andmobile platforms. The service’s also has SW and FM radio output and a weekly TV Programme Global India.It aims to make international news relevant to an Indian audience, and bring international perspectives to bear on Indian and global developments.
The post holder will be responsible for ensuring that coverage meets the highest editorial and production standards whilst planning and promoting new working practices to meets the needs of the ever changing media market. You will be involved in the training and day to day supervision of Broadcast Journalists and other production staff. Reporting South Asian and International issues will require you to maintain a balance between global and regional coverage. You will be a leader encouraging and inspiring the team of journalists in the production of interesting and imaginative programming.
The Ideal Candidate
You’ll have complete comprehension of written and spoken Hindi and English. The successful individual will have a strong ability to write, adapt and translate with accuracy, style and for different audiences coupled with a good broadcasting voice and appropriate presentation style to communicate effectively with listeners. You will have exceptional recent experience as a broadcast or print journalist. You’ll have a thorough awareness of the media situation in the target area and the way it is developing and the challenges it poses to the BBC.
