POSITION: Media Analyst, FSN-8 (Contract Employee Agreement) Based in New Delhi

WORK HOURS: Full-time; 40 hours/week

The US Embassy in New Delhi is seeking full-time Media Analyst who has experience in science journalism/reporting with a reputed Indian media organization. The candidate should be fluent in English with good working knowledge of Hindi and/or any other Indian language.

BASIC FUNCTIONS OF POSITION
Duties will include, but are not limited to, coverage of media developments and breaking news, production of translations and multimedia products, web content management, research, and written analysis from South Asia.
Incumbents will be required to work extended hours, weekends, and holidays and to travel periodically.
Experience of reporting/writing on Indian science-related developments.
Level –IV native or near-native fluency in oral and written English and in any one or more vernacular languages. Knowledge of a language apart from Hindi will be an advantage.
Knowledge of South Asian current affairs and media with minimum 2-3 years of work experience.
Ability to synthesize and integrate complex information or data across sources to identify relationships and
Ability to quickly and accurately translate into idiomatic English from the vernacular languages.
Knowledge of social media.
A university degree in science.
Self-motivated individual with the ability to work in a team environment.
Ability and willingness to perform a wide variety of tasks, change focus quickly, and adapt work habits/schedule to meet mission requirements
Experience of covering scientific conferences/meetings.
Significant knowledge of media environments
Exposure to social media tools.
